6 Ways
to
print a
pdf
Products
required in this tip are:
Batch & Print
Pro v5.02 or greater
There are now many ways of printing
PDFs some quicker, some slower, some produce larger files:-
Way 1.
(Default) Print PDF's internally
By default
this is the preferred way as the print is managed by Batch & Print Pro,
the con's of this way is that the file sizes can be larger on the
printer as it is rastered.
The pro's are internal printing, various print options can be set in
Options menu-->General Setup Options... PDF... e.g. scaling,
rotation etc.
To use: This option can
be turned on and off in Options menu-->General Setup Options... PDF...
"Don't use internal printing of pdf's" checkbox.
Way
2. Print using Adobe Reader / Acrobat shell print (Same
as right mouse on a pdf in windows explorer and selecting "print" from
the popup menu)
This is the old way but for compatibility and the print size output can
be smaller depending on the printer driver used, this can be the
preferred way to print pdf's.
One con is that it print's the PDF file as is, i.e. no
scaling etc is applied.
To use: This option can
be turned on by setting Options menu-->General Setup Options... PDF...
"Don't use internal printing of pdf's" checkbox.
Way
3. Print PDF's internally using PDF to Postscript conversion
This way will only work with postscript compatible printers and with a
postscript driver installed, this way can also be the preferred way for
the right printer as it is quick and native to the printer been sent to.
This way has added benefits of been able to change the
scaling, cenetering, page range etc and includes PPD file support for
special printer features like tray selection, duplex, stapling etc.
For more help on how to
use this see: Batch & Print Pro, Help menu-->Walkthru Examples,
Postscript,
Print PDF's as
Postscript without Adobe - Advanced
One con is all printer driver settings are ignored when
printing ps files as they are native to the printer so the information
has to be in the postscript file.
Way
4. Print using the PDF Addon Plus - Adobe Reader / Acrobat (Same
as printing manually in Adobe)
This is one way if the user wants to use specific settings available in
Adobe Reader / Acrobat, for example print page ranges.
One con is that it ties up Adobe when printing on screen like
a human printing manually and is not advisable to be used in NT Service
mode.
For more help on using
this option see: Batch & Print Pro, Help menu-->Walkthru Examples,
Addons, PDF Addon Plus.

Way
5. Print PDF's internally using PDF to PCL conversion
This way will only work with PCL compatible printers and with a PCL
driver installed, this way can also be the preferred way for the right
printer as it is quick and native to the printer been sent to.
For more help on how to
use this see: Batch & Print Pro, Help menu-->Walkthru Examples,
Postscript,
Print PDF's as
PCL without Adobe

conversion to work.
Way
6. Print PDF's directly to the printer
This way will only work with native PDF compatible printers and with a
native PDF compatible driver installed, this way can also be the
preferred way for the right printer as it is quickest and native to the
printer been sent to.
